Hi Friend,
Can I share something I hear almost every week from the women I work with?
"I've been eating less and I still can't lose weight. I'm exhausted all the time and I don't understand why."
If that sounds familiar — I want you to know something important.
Eating less is not the answer. In fact, for women over 50, it can actually make things significantly worse.
Here's why.
When you consistently eat less than your body needs, your metabolism slows down to protect you. It's not a flaw — it's your body doing exactly what it was designed to do. It senses scarcity and shifts into conservation mode.
And the signs of this are hard to miss: persistent fatigue, difficulty losing weight despite eating very little, feeling cold all the time, brain fog, poor sleep, and a general sense of running on empty.
Sound familiar?
After 50, your body's nutritional needs actually increase in certain areas — not decrease. You need more protein to maintain muscle mass. More calcium and vitamin D to protect your bones. More fiber to support digestion. More of the right foods, not less food overall.
The adults I work with who make the biggest transformations aren't the ones who restrict the most. They're the ones who learn to nourish consistently — eating enough of the right things, regularly, in a way that fits their real life.
So if you've been cutting back and wondering why you still feel so tired — this might be your answer.
This week, instead of asking "what can I take out?" try asking "what can I add in?"
Add a handful of leafy greens. Add a serving of protein at breakfast. Add one more glass of water. Add colour to your plate.
Small additions, done consistently, can change how you feel more than any restriction ever will.
You deserve to feel energized and well — and that starts with giving your body what it actually needs. 🌿
Warmly,
Sonia
